This pastel painting is from a reference photo (Pixabay) that caught this sea lion in a striking pose. The first time I saw it I thought of the gesture of teenage disdain shown to me by my nieces years ago which meant "Talk to the Hand". The sea lion's expression and gesture caught that so perfectly I had to try to capture it in a painting.
