Predator Overall Honorable Mention

This painting is part of my 'Up Close and Personal' series - an exploration of immense detail. I particularly enjoyed this painting as the expression on this leopard's face gave her so much character and her eyes were just fascinating to paint. I used a variety of different photographs to achieve the necessary detail for this piece, using one main reference photograph for the close-up composition. "Predator" took roughly 4 months to complete.

The African Leopard is widely distributed across Africa, but the population of this sub-species is decreasing and it has been classified as Vulnerable by IUCN’s Red List.
