The Dreamer Finalist

My work is about care and repair. I use fiber as a repair material, healing ceramic blemishes, and faults, enhancing the object's beauty, or sometimes reflecting on what is strange. Sheep and land animals are fixtures in my work. Their place identifies the intention in my art practice to tend to the fruit of my labor much like a shepherd tends to their flock. Fiber has been an integral part of my life and art practice since I was a child. I began reintroducing fiber into my work following a mental health episode when I became petrified of natural fibers, losing one of my great loves. Applying wool and fiber to my ceramic work is not only an act of repairing the ceramic shapes but also my relationship to art and fiber materials.
